View Full Version : What Tires are best for 300EX?

03-18-2002, 04:53 PM
I have a 2001 300EX with the original tires and am tired of the flats. I'm a recreational rider, I don't push my atv hard. I ride trails in the woods, I also ride hills at the rock quarry, and I even go down to the sand bars once in awhile and do some jumps.

Will the Holeshots be good tires for me? If so, what size should I get? I was thinking of getting the XCR's in the rear and just XC's in the front. That way I'd have 6 ply in the rear and 4 ply in the front.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

One more quick question, I plan on getting the tire/wheel package, probably from RockyMountainATV.com and I need some help deciding on wheels also. Should I just go with Douglas 190's or what?

If anyone has pictures of there EX with Holeshots please post.

I'm more or less a recreational trail rider and have 23" front razrs and 22" rears...the rears are on stock honda rims and the fronts are on douglas .190 rims. If you don't have ground clearance issues i'd say go with 22x7x10 fronts and 20x11x9 rears..if ground clearance is an issue go with same set-up I have. The douglas rims are offset also to make the front a little wider.

I would either get the stock 400 tires or a set of Titan Trail Claws. I have the claws on mine and they hook up great. I got em from Marcums:D

Go with Razrs or ITP Holeshots. I have 21x7x10, 20x11x10 on my 400. I had a 250x with Holeshots on it (21x7x10, 20x10x9). Both brands hook up great, I think the Razrs are just a tad better, though.
I have Douglas black labels on my 400, had same on the 250x. The black labels take some abuse, but tend to bend fairly easily around the edges,I would get the red labels for my 400 if I had to do it over again, maybe even the beadlocks. I mainly do fast woods riding.

i have razrs and they are great. I havn't realy gotten into any sand yet but the work pretty good in snow/slush. the 20'' are almost as tall as the stock 22''. i will be getting the razr fronts pretty quick. I would go less than .190 rims. except in the sand on paddles
