What do you feel has more potential on an MX track? I'm torn between my 416 and a 265R.

I voted for the R. After riding my 400 for awhile and having rode many more studly built EX's.....there is just something about the R that I wouldn't want to bet against, lol! :D

I would love to race the R....dayum do those things fly past me at the track!

Thats really a trick question, but I voted for the EX.... however if you're talking about a 250R... like the ones the pros have laying around now, I would vote an R. No doubt. :macho

Did I miss something? :huh You are CORRECT! It is a 250R vs a 400EX. If it were a 1989 250R or 86 or whatever year was best, I would vote for the EX... LIKE I DID. :eek2: But if it were a 2002 or so, Roll or Lonestar with a new motor and a powervalve, .... and a frame that wasn't brittle as heck, I would vote for the R... NO DOUBT Again. Now, did you miss something? lol :D

R's are light and cost less to make fast but, mx tracks have a lot of turns, and in the turns, you dont want to have to clutch it all the time, and youll like the 4-stokre torque out of corners. i voted 400ex. also because, theyre still being made. you can get them new. where as an R, you may have to replace lots of things. id trust a 400ex more than an R on the track, too.

but man if i had to buy one, id buy the R, as long as that ban doesnt really happen, man, i realllly wish they still made the dayum R. i love those :(. now if i want a 2-stroke sport quad, ill have to buy a shee'. and know what? id rather have an R, but, theyre old!

Stock for stock they are pretty equal quads. But once you slap some motormods and suspension, the 250r tends to be the better quad. The 250r can be modded for MX racing a lot cheaper than a 400ex.

The 400ex has a trailbike motor and the 250r has a cr250, which do you think is better  But if you like 4-stroke then I guess the 400ex is the only option.

With the 2-stroke ban, you can still ride any 2-stroke, they just cant be manufactured.

You cant pull out the technology excuse for the 400ex being better, they arent that high tech. The XR motors are from the 80's as well. :eek2:

long live the R!!!

well I have a 88 250r that is slightly modded. Chassis wise the only thing it has is works shocks. It has a pipe and other small things. Get on a lightly modded 400 then get on a lightly modded 250r. The 250r wins by far. Much more power and handling and braking on the 250r is by far much better. Now if your just looking for a comfortable trail rider the 400 might be better for someone that is not into flying through the woods. My choice is the R anyday.
