Round 5 of the ITP QuadCross was on the REM track. The track was decently groomed but started to dry out later into the day due to the heat. There wasn't much changes on the track from the last round but it looked like it would be a great day to race.

Darrel Patton took the holeshot in the first gate with Jeremy Schell and Jeff Spooner right being him.

05-04-2004, 06:47 PM
Ricky Nickell took the holeshot in the second gate. With Danny Ragon behind him. Before the race started I was talking to Ricky and he said he had only had one holeshot in his life. Well looks like he has two now.

By the second lap Jeremy had passed Darrell.

However Darrell was not about to give up. Darrel stayed right behing him.

quadchick01
05-04-2004, 07:08 PM
Everyone in the second gate seemed to be staying close together. As the top two riders battled for the first place spot.

Unfortunetly as soon as Darrel got a comfortable second place lead on the rest of the pack he forgot the number one rule.... KEEP THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN!!!! Maybe he was just taking Goebel's spot. He walked away from it and still raced the second moto. But he did not finish this race.

quadchick01
05-04-2004, 07:12 PM
Jeff Spooner moved into the second place spot after Darrel's crash.

quadchick01
05-04-2004, 07:14 PM

14 pros lined the gates. With only having enough room for 11 on the gate three racers had to start behind the other, including Darrel Patton due to his crash earlier.
