The answer isn't simple. It deals with vaporization points, entropy and enthrapy changes of specific hydrocarbons, and then gets more complex if lead is thrown into the mix. It takes a four-year degree in chemistry just to understand the explanation.

it is basically in the molecular makeup of the fuel, Race fuel is formulated to burn cooler, at higher compressions. But, like said above, to explain the process might take a while, i will write it up tonight after school
