Photoshop battle!!!!!

we'll me and my buddy are doing what they call "photoshop battle" where 2 people come up with a theme, and design it...in this case he picked the word "Car" i picked "Light" let the battle begain

the time limit is 15 min. per design, and files are sent through MSN for fairness!!!!!

the rules of the game are using elements from the previous art, all art was made in photoshop.........after i did mine, he used snoop....then i countered back with his framing and grunge look...

Shift, all your work seems to have that grungy feel. It makes it look awesome. Do you just make random shapes and scratch/wrinkle marks on a layer and place it at the top of the stack and lower the opacity?

I really don't use filters.....to me there a cheaters way of making something look cool........but filter are played out.....people use them to much at the amature level of design.........

Lens flairs, embossing, whatever..........you won't see me using those ever.....try to stay away from filters, even though they may be cool

the ones i use are the blurs......you can create textures by using layers.......and so forth.......

When you design do you just use brushes and stuff? Ever since i learned how to make brushes and things (I downloaded some premade ones and discovered the technique) my work has gotten alot better,

is there any other great techniques like this that i might not know off?

Ive been wanting to get a scanner and just scan in random **** to make some brushes out of.(Is that what you did with the picture negatives?)

you get the technique after about 3-4 years of designing.....and being in Southern Cali, i've learned alot of new art forms, its amazing the amount of creativeness here.......free flow....designing should come natural

In the game, you only take on element in a pic, and you design something around it, as in my pic, i have your red background with the quad, but its blurred...but its still there......tweaked a little...and this is the quicky i came up with......now when you do yours, you can use the pixel looking quality, or my hommie guy, or whatever.....

I photoshoped a pic of myself, you can see I had to airbrush alot of it to remove the imperfections from my skin. I also felt my head was too small, so I enlarged it to twice the size of my body.
