Just wondering, how much faster is a stock 400ex compared to a stock blaster? I have a blaster now and i'm getting a 400ex in about a month.....i cant f'in wait

:macho

400ex anyday, unless some one spends 20, 0000 on the blaster just to make it go 50 + , which is retarded IMO

blasters=garbage

stock for stock, the blaster is quite a bit slower, but mod them both out, and the blaster is gonna catch up quickfor less than 1500 bucksa, you can have a blaster with about 40-45 horse, do the same stuff to a 400 and it would have 35 or 40, so with some kmoney you could close the gap pretty quick. but, unless your running the sport class at the gncc's or the air cooled class at the gnc, you'd be wasting your money on making the blaster fast. it also will not ever compare to a 400ex in the suspension department

I have owned both quads, I loved them both. They are both pretty damm reliable and can both take a beating. The Blaster is a quick little quad but the 400ex is a bit faster. I dragged my piped and jetted 400ex against 2 piped and jetted Blasters. A few times they could get me right off the line but even before i would shift into 3rd i would catch up and pass them. You will ride faster on the 400ex mostly though because it is longer and has better suspension. You will go faster over whoops. I rode a Blaster for years then i went on to the 400ex and it is a great progression. WHo cares if the 450r or YFZ is faster, i bet if you go riding with quads like that you will be able to hang with them on trail rides as long as your riding skill is pretty good. The 400ex also is one awesome quad to jump. Reliability and maintentance are also the solid and easy.

Well i had a blaster but then i sold it and got a mostly stock 400ex. Wow what a big difference, one thing you ahve to get used to is that you cant throw it around like the blaster. I went riding like three times so far and crashed 2 times. well ahve fun with it.

actually for 1500 you can make a blaster absolutly fly. 240 stroker totally done out will produce 38+ hp with ease.

but stock for stock a 400ex is faster and better machine.

It's not 45hp, but 40.7hp isn't bad for $1400

i forgot, could you remind me... does the 500 stand for the CC's or the weight of the quad.... or both?

500cc's and the quad weighs 375lbs now.

Oh and just to make it clear, it's 500cc's now but may be 560cc's in the near future. So in case you aren't sure if it weighs 560lbs or has 560cc's, it will be 560cc's and still 375lbs.

Any other questions about it?

getting back to blasters vs. 400ex's, their both great quads, but obviously the 400ex is better in every aspect. Having owned both, the 400ex is more reliable and 10 times less aggravating in the brake department (excluding 2003 blasters with disks). Tons more torque on the 400.

why would u ask such a question on a honda site, but i diagress, u can get the 240 ported kit from hollywooddirt i beleive for 500 bucks, and i can gurantee u that a blaster with that can beat a 400ex, a blaster with a good port job and exhasut can beat a STOCK 400ex, the 240 ported combo can prolly take a piped 400ex

RMX500

That was one thing I really liked about my old Blaster. Damn thing was so light and nimble...... But a little small for me.

Im in between a 400ex and a c-dale for my next bike, but its probably gonna end up to be a 400ex. They are going for cheap and are bulletproof!

I thought about modding my blaster but....i dont want to spend 600-800 bucks just to have decent suspension

Then 350-400 bucks for decent brakes

Then 1000+ of motor work

Then 300 bucks for a wider axle...and 400-500 for wider a arms...

I think you guys get the idea...400ex will be all around better and i know that

I just want it to be a nice step up, and not something i will barely realize

well i also have a very nice blaster, elka suspension, +3 +1 a-arms durablue axle all that good crap and 1200 in motor work, i dont regert it and i love my blaster, i dont know y the blaster gets no respectr, its a small engine but those things can pump out 40 + HP, i would never do it only if i drag raced but i dont, so i just put out about 29 with the porting

yeah, maybe next time you should put the whole quad on the scale, not just the frame.

also i beat stock 400ex's and a highly modified 250r on a stock blaster a year ago. and no dont worry, im not a 12yr old on a blaster... i can actually ride :eek2:

sorry flyin#5, i'm not trying to bust your chops or anything, but was the guy on the modded 250r just pushing it or was the engine actually running?? I had a blaster with a little stuff done and I would have gotten a new one ripped if I went up against a 400ex nevermind a modded 250r. With work though, blasters are actually quite nice, but by no means race worthy in stock form up against full size quads.

my pred dont weigh much it is easy to make it light, i bet it weighs just the same as a 400ex or anyhting...

Okay since you're a little slow.

The Predator's dry weight, EVERYTHING on the scale is 376 (375 w/e) pounds. EVERYTHING.

Alright?

Really if you don't understand I can draw a picture for you.

Would you like that?

I've done a bit of weight reduction on mine.

You can make a blaster have they same amount of power but you will be slower on it the 400ex handles better and there is ALOT more room 400ex hands down;)

i had a 2003 blaster and i liked it and it was really easy to throw around but i just couldnt handle the crappy stock suspension, it was terrible. but i wanted something that handled better, had more power, and better suspension so i sold the blaster and bought my 416ex and it was one of the best decisions ive ever made

05-06-2004, 05:39 PM
i was going to start with a blaster for 1400 but got a bike for 1000 instead. it was an even worse decision :(

wish i gotten the blaster.

now i want a 400ex.

The blaster is a fun little quad.. Stock vs Stock or modded vs modded the 400ex will kill a blaster.. But they are two completely seperate class bikes. The blaster is probably the cheapest fun you can get, you can find older ones for less then $1000 easy.
