I heard somewhere on the hmf forum that it was possible(on a 400EX) to change the mainjet by way of the carb drainplug while still in the bike.

Can you do this?

Any other jetting tips or tricks?

Anybody with a jetted HMF slip-on?

yes you can change the main jet when the carb is still on the bike

All you do is remove the 17mm bolt on the bottom fo the carb and than get a stubby flathead screwdriver and remove the jet

put in your new jet and than grab a cold beer !

this is right except that you need to use a 6mm socket to remove the mainjet, not a skrewdriver. these mainjets are hex style, not the round ones.

No, actually, the stock jets are hex type, the dynojets are flathead. :)

yes u can take out the main jet with out removeing the carb. But to make ur life a little bit easier loosen of the clamps on the carb if u can get to them a rotate the carb a little this will make it a whole lot easier to see what ur doing when trying to put the jet back in

to put them back in i just use a 6mm and an extension and spin it around till i find the hole.

that works for the long hex jets, but it is a lot harder with the dynojets because u need to use a flat head screwdriver
