Like i said, since i'm putting on a 14 tooth sprocket for some more low end do i have to replace the rear sprocket and chain? It's an 02 400ex. I ride pretty hard but they're in good shape. And i guess i have a stock case saver so is it worth getting an aftermarket billet one?

Just put the 14 on and adjust the chain. The stock case saver will work fine.

hey i just put on a 14th tooth sproket on my 400ex and all u have to do it adjust the chain and u will be set. You do not have to change the size of the rear sprocket. I was very impressed on the difference of low end with the sprket. You lose some top speed but wow it is nice u will enjoy it:)

well i know i dont HAVE to change them, but aren't u supposed to change both sprockets and chain at the same time? that's my actual question, sorry :p

Yes, you should change the front/rear/chain as a combo. Rocky Mountain sells combo kits (all 3 pieces in stock size) for 42 bucks.

If your old sprockets are worn, they will wear the new one faster. But, if your old sprockets look fine then dont change them. Why spend all that $? If it wore your new 14T sprocket out faster, you would only be out 10 bucks or so. I change single sprockets all the time with no problems. Just my $.02
