i have a lot of questions that i am trying to learn if you all didn't notice. i am not sure if the long travels are worth it over standard travel? now, i don't race really. i am mainly a weekend warrier and just race with friends. how noticable are the long travels when riding the bikes? i have found some elka standard travel, ssd, piggyback rezzy shocks for $750, but i don't know if they are worth it or not. i thought there were only around $900 new. if the long travels won't do me any good, i guess there is no reason to get those. does $700 to $750 seem steep for standard travels. i think both sets of standard travel shocks did not have the rebound adjustment if i remember correctly.

700 - 750$ is way to much for that...

Cal, most guys will probably say that 'long travel' is the way to go. I even race mx and use standard +2 Lonestars and do just fine. I got them used off a guy and all they needed was some fresh pc.

I just can't see spending tons of cash for arms...longer is all I was concerned about. Standard +2's I think will float your boat.

The only way I would use long travel arms is if someone gave them to me....would I like to have them...probably. But I guess I don't know what I'm missing, lol!:)

Most guys I even race with don't use long travel arms either.

Well most people dont just go to longtravel for the extra travel. It also helps the shock builder tune your shocks to your specifications easier. In my opinion Longtravel is worth it, but if your only a weekend warrior it isnt needed, but can be a nice touch.

I have long travel TCS quad rates on my 400ex and they flat out rock! Dont believe the hype about more travel, They just give the shock builder more room to work with, Thats how they work so well. I dont know how much you know about shock valving but having the extra 2 to 3 inches of room inside a shock to work with does wonders. You wont notice it as much on the big hits such as landind a big jump but all the little stutter bumps and such flat out disappear. I wouldnt go back to standard travel now. Also I got my TCS long travel threw magnolia tractor for under 800$ to my door.http://idahomx.home.mindspring.com/DSCN1027.JPG

I believe the Quadrate, SSD, Compression adjust shocks like I got retail for $970. I would check with C&D and the Quadshop to try and find them cheaper.

is this thru C&D?

does this include valving for your weight, arms, etc?

by the way, how much does new valving usually cost?

thanks cal
