How long has it been since your valves were last adjusted?

the bikes only 2 months old and havent done any thing but an oil change, and some regular s*it to it so far.

If the valves have never been adjusted, you might want to try that, there is an article on it in the tech section

YOUR PROBLEM IS YOUR VALVES.TAKE IT BACK AND GET IT SERVICED.MINE DID THAT TO AND THE HONDA DEALER SAID IT WAS THE VALVES.

It may sound stupid but check your spark plug wire. mine was ticking and it sounded like i needed my valves adjusted but it was just that my spark plug wire was lose

If it clicks at low rpm's and you have an aftermarket cam in it then that is why it ticks. If not, then it is usually due to the valves like everyone has been saying and the decompression mechanism...

wow i cant believe i'm still gettin responces to this, k well it was partially valves and partially because I changed it over to 15w 50, atleast so i was told, so fater a few adjustments, ticks gone and she workin better than ever.

thanx for your help all, i've learned TONS about my bike from this site and now that i've been f***in with it for the last 2 months, i think i've figured out quit a bit with a little help from the searches

i dont know thats just what the f***er at honda said, i was under warrenty so i got them to do it and after i told them i had 15w 50 in it the went back to the 10w 40 or what ever it is they use so i did an oil change soon as i took it off the truck

even if you adjust the valves itll still have a tick. ive noticed that all honda's seem to tick. i also noticed that thicker oils reduce the amount of ticking.:huh

so anyone else have a thought on goin from 15w 50 back to motul??????....so far most mechanics i have talked to say it should be fine, but had a couple people say it'll do harm over the long term

If its ticking while ridin, then its your valves knocking. If its ticking after you shut the bike down, its your engine expanding and contacting from the heat, no worries there.

Yeah you prolly need to adjust the valves its not very hard and it dont take long at all.... :D
