What do you gain by using that caliper?

you go from a single piston to a dual piston. Alot more stopping power

Don't all the 250R rear calipers have dual pistons? Mine does. My rear brake setup on my 400EX is from a 86-89 250R. That is why I installed the 250R setup.

I understand now. Ya those 250R parts are getting a little expensive. I had bought all my parts about 9 years ago with the swingarm to install on an old 250X back then. Never did get that done thou. I finally installed on my old 300EX, but then swapped axles and brakes when I got my new 400EX.

I know Exodus Cycles put a YZF426 front caliper on the rear of a 250R. Does anyone know where I can get a bracket to do this? Thanks.

i ended up making the mount, it was fairly easy and only took about an hour.
i mounted the caliper on the exisiting mount that holds the R style caliper to the swingarm (the carrier)

the crf caliper fit right between that mount and the rotor, and bolted right up to the existing hole with mininum grinding. i made a custom mount to go from the other hole, to the caliper itself by measuring from center of each hole, cutting
1/8 thick metal, drilling the holes, then had to bang into shape with a hammer. everything clears good and its mounted on how its supposed to be... ill try to get some pictures.....

I'm positive that american dream makes the bracket for the CRF front caliper, i talked to them about it and was going to do this myself.

yes american dream makes one...but if you have the capability, just make it yourself. i have a one piece one made out of aluminum, different than what it sounds like tants built.

im not doubting that they make one, just the link you sent me was to use a 450r caliper, not crf450...

i mounted everything up, bled the line, and it works great. ill get some pics tonight and post them up.
