oil level

on my '02 400ex the oil level will be way high sometimes, then half full at other times. is it just because that it is not being pumped when it is off? im not worried but just wondering.

make sure you read your manual and check it how it is supposed to be checked

make sure its on a level surface......start and let run for 5 minutes...shut off...unscrew the oil cap and look at the dip stick. It should be in the middle;)

i have only had it for about 2 weeks. i am supposed to be getting the manual and spare key through the mail from the girl who had it before me. it is on level ground.even after i let it run the oil will be higher or lower than the last time.

Do what hondarider told ya. If it is too full, drain all the oil out of the tank and case. Then refill so you know how much oil is there.

Better yet, just do an oil change. Put a new filter in it, drain bolth the oil cooler and the crank case, And put 2 quarts of Mobile 1 15w-50 red cap in. That is the right amount of oil, and you will know for sure its the right amount;)

in fear of being the stupid canadian...what is 2 quarts in liters.....still around 2 right?
