if you just want top speed, regear your quad for top speed. use a 16t front and a 34t rear or something like that. you''ll lose your lowend jump, but you'll be toping out way up there.

i already have a 16 up front. all i need is to get abour 3-5 mph on topend to keep up with my friends kdx200. i beat him on acceleration then he just comes by me.his tops out at 72 or so. would bigger tires make a difference at all?

what size are your back tires? yes it does make a big difference. You should be running the tallest ones you can find. also change your rear sprocket to one with less teeth, that makes a big difference as well.

i personally wouldn't go with bigger tires. they get too heavy and seem bumpy. they also look out of place. i don't think they will help at all becasue of the gearing your already running. i would do a piston and stage 2 cam with proper jetting and you should be good to go.

does c&d have JE pistons. what should i get? a 10:5:1 or a 11:1. how much would all of it cost. i have $160 right now and i have a birthday coming up. so i am hoping to get all of it soon.

Well then you may want to do a big bore kit while your in there. you get 416 or 440 kits on ebay for like $180 then just take it to local shop and have them install it for you. you'll probably be around $250-$300 total, but it will give you more power.

i just dropped my 400 off at the local quad shop to have a 11:1 ross piston, stage 1 cam, regasket the whole engine and replace the countershaft. total the guy said around 400-600 dollars (for labor alone) remember that their charging upwards of $50 an hour to work on your machine. And that was the cheapest place i could find with mechanics i trust working on my quad.

Without an 11-1 piston, you will be a lot slower on takeoff, and still never catch him. After installing a piston, I changed my front sprocket back to a fifteen tooth, and had all the bottom end as before, and enough top end to hang with the 440's. They still swear I installed a 440 kit.
