actually i like your old truck better than your new one lol. but i would mind that new one but i perfer chevy and the old trucks.
but when i get my truck this weekend. its a 86 chevy silverado 1/2 ton. its in nice shap but has a lot of miles on it and so i am gonna rebuild it. or i might just find a 350 big block engine and put in it. i am only 15 and i am gonna have lots of time to do what ever i want to it. it cost 2000$ and that is gonna spend all the money that i got right now. but i am gonna have 2 jobs in the summer. so i will be making around a 1000$ dollars a month.

Some people aren't too smart. How would you ever pull a trailer safely with that? I sure would NOT want to be in it at 80MPH with my 8 1/2 X 24 enclosed trailer full of quads and riding gear behind it. Thats the main reason mine is not lifted yet. I have everything to lift it 4", and will be doing that, but thats all the higher I am going.

and about that truck again. you shouldn't be disin that truck any way. because it is a lot better than yours. and a lot of people like different kind of stuff. but i wouldn't take the 4 wheel drive out of it though. but if it what the person likes and don't care. but maybe the person lives not to close to where there is 4x4ing things to do. if i had a truck. and it looked that like but old style like that 86 chevy i am getting. i won't go 4x4ing in it after i am done with it because it will be all nice and shiny and i don't want it to look bad.

i agree. my dakota ( with a fairly new paint job) hasnt been registered/insured/inspected yet and its already got twice as many scratches and imperfections as it did when i bought it. its just paint and metal, it doesn't effect how the truck drives at all.

Thats about the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. All that would do is slightly reduce weight. It might save 1 gal. of fuel over 1,000 miles, but that would be about it. I highly doubt that it would do that in a diesel it would probably be more like 1 gal. of fuel in 2,000 miles.

HMMMMMMM
Kinda funny that it has the same 7.3 Powerstroke
the same trans if it's a 6 speed and you would have to be ignorant to put large tires on an automatic Superduty because the trans won't take much more than what it has stock
the same Dana 60 rear end
the same Dana 66 front end
the same sheat metal for the most part it's just a crew cab and mine is an extended cab and it's painted a different color
the same interior
It might look a little better than mine, but I guarentee that mine pulls a trailer 1/2 way across the US a hell of a lot better than that one ever could being jacked up like that.

You are have a rite to have that openion.
My openion is that the truck needs to stay useful. A truck like that is useless for work and working the truck was the main reason that I purchased what I have instead of the 2002 F150 Lightning that I could have purchased for 1/2 the price when it only had 75 miles on it.

I own a 1992 Dakota 2wd with the V-6 and a manual transmission, it just rolled over 65,000 miles not to long ago actually. It has 30" Pro-Comps on 15" Eagle Alloy Wheels (about the only ones you can buy for it) and has a 2" body lift on it, hopefully I'll get a lot more for it later.

I had an AWESOME 88 s-15 it was fully loaded (power windows, locks...), red and sliver, immaculate, brand new engine, I had the ench seat redone in leather, the whole interior was perfect, new tires, just had the bed liner sprayed and then I got hit, insurance gave me 1400, which was 400 less then I had in the engine itself. Im trying my *** off to find another one. Im trying to find one in decent shape for around $1000.

I'm glad that I didn't go to Sparta if it was like that. I was planning on going until I found out that my best friend was going to be home. My truck is spotless rite now, and i wouldn't have wanted to get it that dirty today. Also that big *** diesel engine makes it go down fast when it starts spinning just a little bit.

Yeah you got that right. The $40 set of tires that are on there just ain't cutting it. Looking into getting the Maxxis Buckshot mudders for it.
I think I am going to invest in locker for the rear of it also...i hate having 4 wheel drive but only 2 wheels are spinning:mad:

i think he was just making a post that those things are over rated and everyone had them, not the truck, the taillights. if you do lower it let me know, my friend has an 86 that we air bagged also. he has a set of drop control arms that has never been bolted on that he will let go cheep.

^^^i think he was talkin bout the truck when he said itd double its value. my truck is not a pos we bought it from an old german guy and the thing runs great. but maybe the taillights and clear corners are overrated i dunno....i like how they look. and if i were to drop it i was just gonna get some like 2 inch drop blocks in the rear, not sure bout the front yet. do you reccommend this since im only on a budget? what does your friend have done to the mazda and anything thats reccommended on them?
need4speed
05-06-2004, 05:04 PM
I got an 87 mazda reg cab that i dropped 5 in in the rear. And all you have to do to lower the front is turn the torshion bars and it will drop. I learned the hard way and i left the torshion bars angled down under the bottom of my truck after i lowered it, and snagged a manhole cover in the road lmao. So make sure you rotate them back up towards the chassie.

You can take the clutches out prety easily, and still have the front drive shaft hung in there.
I do agree that it's an ignorant idea, but there are a lot of ignorant people out there so I am not doubting that he has seen it done.

if you take the front pinion out, there would be nothing there to hang a shaft from.

You can leave 1 of the 4 gears in there, but take the 8 little clutch plates, 6 friction disks, and other 3 gears out. Or at least you can on some front diffs. I have seen it done to nurse a vehicle home when stuff breaks inside of that front diff.
