Burned Valves

Just a quick question. This is way off topic but someone has been running there car without any exhaust, without the much needed backpressure couldn't you burn up the valves that way. Why is that.

It could but I doubt it... back in WWII the V12 powered Interceptor/Pursuit planes P-39, P40, P-51 etc. ALL had open exhaust with a very short manifold and they didn't suffer from valves burning from lack of anything... they might have been sodium filled but I doubt it also.
