i was just wanting to know what you think of your yfz450 and have you had any troubles with them i hear they have had a few problems and have even seen one that had been on fire ,on this web site... tring to figure if i want the honda 450 or the yam 450 the kick start dont bother me any , i already have a 250r...

hopefully yamy will work the bugs out with the release of the 05s. I'm waiting to see what Suz and Kawi bring to the plate this summer (hopefully) and then make my decision between the 4.

Despite the problems I've had so far .... battery problems , stator problems and now I cant get a hub bolt off ( compressor isn't strong enough) , I haven't had any other problems :cool:

Love my YFZ.
I just had to put in a bigger battery (from a cannondale). My stock battery kept dying. Replaced my the throttle lever with a 400EX throttle lever. My stock throttle lever was stiff like a hand cruncher, that you would use for strengthening your hands. Next I will buy a ESR pipe, so i can kick the crap out of everyone.

i love my yfz but one tip of advice change ur skid plates cause when i had my stock ones on i hit a rock and worped my rotor and then i had to buy a new one plus skid plates

i had a idle problem just because they didnt set it when i bought it...


other than that i love my yfz change oil often and ride hard!

dont put it up dirty, clean it! treat it good and it will treat you good.


i havent had a single problem so far besides i had to get used to the gearing because my 400ex was geared a little lower...

i think the battery issue is blown out of proportion..

i talk to several dealers and they said the hundreds they sold only 1 or 2 came back becasue of a dead battery...

1. dealer said a swing arm broke when the guy pulled it off the back of the truck..



anyhow if i had to do it all over again i would... i love my new bike i wish it was out when i first got started so i didnt have to move up so many times.. i really love this bike ..

I just got an LE last Sunday but haven't had chance to ride, will probably go riding this Saturday, Looks awesome though, can't wait to ride. I already got some goodies order for it.

I love this machine, after owning a 88'250r, 03'z400, 99'banshee, 03' gasgas, 99' wolverine, and spending plenty of time on raptors and even 2hrs of solid riding on the 450r. I have to say nothing is really in the same league, the 450r to me felt tippy the nose felt light when i didnt want it to be, in the corners accelerating through them and jumping. However it did ride nice, and have good power. While it kicks easy I cant see myself kicking it 1hr into a 2hr long muddy race on a 90 degree day. I can say I have 2 gripes about the yfz the seat is harder than hell (fixed it at a gncc with a new cover, seat foam all installed for 60.00) and the thumb throttle sucks, it can be cured with a 400ex throttle, trx 90 lever, and a cut spring. Once i do these modifications I will let you know how the results go.

I have a 450R and a YFZ and I love my YFZ! It handles better than any bike I have ever been on and is really fast! when i had my old 440 EX i thought it was awsome! but this thing stock puts it to shame. I just put an LRD pipe on and had it jetted today so I cant wait to ride it when i get home from work! :devil:
