Has anyone heard of putting a xr600 top end on a 400ex case? A friend of mine told me that it may work. Does anyone know if there is any other top end that will fit to get more displacement?

Why not just put a crf450 in a 400ex frame or buy a 450R?

I have a case to a 400ex and a friend of mine has a 600 top end and I want to know if it will work before he has to search for it in his trashed garage. Thanks :)

I think the only way to find out is to try it. I'm sure the case will have to be machined to accept the large sleeve though.

Personally I dont think its a great idea, you are going to end up with more problems then its worth, but to each is own.

you could probably get it to work but not without some serious machine work and fabrication first. hell they put CR500 jugs on 250r lower ends, i have even seen a r6 cylinder on a xr100 bottom end i believe it was. anything is possible. but if your asking if it will just bolt up and run theres probably about .5% chance that it will work. and even if it did youd need to beef up your bottom end like crazy, you'd prob need a whole new timiing/electrical system, ect.
