250R mechanical seal question

Can somebody tell me which way the mechanical seal goes in the water pump? I got a hinson cover and now cant remember which way it goes. Does the flat side face the impeller or does it go down? One side is flat and the other has a lip on it. I had it where the lip was touching the impeller and it was leaking out the hole in the bottom. So I didn't know if I had it in back wards or if it needs replaced.

maybe the microfishe on service honda shows the right direction, somebody has my shop manual right now so I can't check.

Thanks. I'll try that. I have a clymers but it doesn't show a very good pic. Anybody else know for sure?

theres only 1 way it can go in..... just have it so the rubber part of the mechanical seal pushes against the white porcelin thats on the other part.....
