Hey guys,
My cousin has an ??LT250R, can't get it running right. It will run, but only if pull started, runs like **** for about 15minutes & then wakes up an runs fine until ya shut it down again. Plug looks fine, nice chocolate brown...will get oily if you sit & kick it trying to get it started. There was nothing done prior to the problems, just had been ridden, has been running fine. He went to sell it & he couldn't get it started for the guy,...they pull started it & it did as described above. I dunno...

Any clues? I'm stumped,...thinking maybe stator or coil, but I dunno. Don't have much experience with the old LT's.:confused:

I'd look for damaged reeds first.

Sounds like a weak ignition if you have to pull start it. LTs are known for that. Suzuki knew it also, why they recommended premium plugs for it!

Also make sure after you ride it to turn off the fuel valve on the tank.

had the same problem with my 89...it ended up being the stator plate coils...and then my spark plug coil went....check out those 4...or possibly you could have a bent crankshaft and its messing up the spark and only runs when it wants too if at all...i had all these problems...check out all those you should solve it

Make sure your reeds are good and that they lay perfectly flat on the cages.

Check the compression too.

noo doesnt sound like a reed problem to me...cause it runs fine and then it stops running?? thats spark all the way...again check the crankshaft and stator plate coils
