300ex cam chain keeps breaking

98 300ex with 310 kit . i had problems with the cam i had in it so i got a new 236 web cam and put in. it rode real well for about 20 minutes we went to shut it off and the cam chain snapped. i bought a new chain which was supposed to be heavier strength it ran fine, but after an hour again the chain snapped. we noticed the something is causing chatter marks on the inside row inside the chain. its on every link on the chain. what would cause this? is one of the sprokets bent or is the chain guides bad?

ARE YOU SURE YOU PUT THE CAM THRUST PLATE BACK IN. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU LEFT IT OUT AND THE CAM IS WALKING SIDE TO SIDE THAT IS WHAT IS BREAKING YOUR CHAIN. IT'S A SMALL HALF MOON SHAPED PLATE THAT GOES ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAM BEARING ON THE CHAIN SIDE. I WOULD BET THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

yes the cam keeper is in place. were gonna replace the chain guides and see if that fixes anything.
