We got a new weekend warrior trailer to put our quads on on trips and our old V-6 silverado wouldn"t cut it so we got a new 4x4 2500 with the 6.0 liter V-8. I was wondering if anyone knows what chevy does to this motor before it goes in the escalade and silverado SS in these they get 345 hp out of it and in our truck its rated at 300 we already got a k&n and are getting exhuast and chip on the way but what does chevy do to change the output that much?

GM puts the 6.0 345 hp in the Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Silverado SS and GMC Denali. I think that they put a different set of heads on it. I read somewhere that they "borrow" the heads that they use on the Corvette to make the horsepower. I work at a GMC dealer, both engines perform very well. the 300 hp 6.0 is more for towing/hauling (torque) that is why it goes into 2500 and 2500HD models.

its only rated at 300 horse?? then it must have a sh*tload of torque cuz we have an 04 1500 silverado with the 5.3 liter 327 in it and i think that is rated at like 295 or 300 hp. we are gettin true dual on it tho with 10 inch glass packs and hi flow cat backs. it should sound pretty sweet. we are prolly gonna get a k&n too but i doubt we will get a chip

Shoulda got the Duramax :blah: j/p
What size WW did you get? A fifth wheel or a tongue hitch? Trailer weight is going to determine how well that truck will pull it.

Consider this, I pull a 33' toy hauler that weighs around 11,000 lbs loaded. My Power Stroke is only rated at 235hp. With chip and exhaust it's about 300hp, and it has no problem pulling that weight because of the amount of torque that motor makes. Torque is what you need for pulling, not hp.

I hope they fixed the piston slap issues in the 6.0 for this year!!

yeah i noticed that when ours stars up and its cold you can here it detanates (piston slp) the first time in fires up, anyway its a ball/hitch trailer its new superlite fully loaded it wieghs less then 6000lbs so we should be just fine.
