Tempted By The Red Side

I'm almost in tears now so bare with me. I've been so happy with my Predator up to this point. Before the Predator I owned a honda 350 4x4 and an 03' 400EX. Way back when I had a 250R for a few months.

This year I bought my Predator and so far it's been so good to me but today that dream was shattered. I went riding with some folks out by the sand / dirt pits and this one guy had a shiny new 450R. Everything about it just put me to shame. It accelerated so much faster. It wheelied with ease.. When it jumped it looked like a cushioned loft in the air .. the landings looked all so smooth and it handled so well.

I don't love my Predator anymore...

I want an R.

Yeah I talked to a guy on a Pred that I drag raced and he said it was almost 4-5 bike lengths by 3rd and then I just pulled away after that.

yup. I believe it. I got wrecked bad in a drag race against a stock R today.

Maybe it's the styling similarities that attracted you to the 450R:D

Now all the 450R owners will band together to tell me that it doesn't look anything like a Predator:eek:. I plan to buy a 450R as soon as I can afford one, but even after I have one sitting in the garage, I will always say that the Honda designers had Polaris on the brain when they came up with the styling of the R:o

Make no mistake, the Pred has a ton of great top end and goes wicked fast, it just takes longer to get there and it doesn't jump or handle near as well as an R. I got my *** handed to be in every category but top speed the other day.

Don't want to pi$$ you off but do you really think your will do MUCH better with A TRX or other new breed quad? seems to me that the your quad is a formidable weapon and i hear people can do well with them.

i'm sure if I dropped 6 grand into the Pred it'd do a lot better..

6 grand I don't feel like spending on it. besides i've tried reducing it's weight in every way. it won't go under 375 even with no lights and no battery.

I know exactly where you're coming from. I've got a pretty nice 440 but the 450r seems so much better. Now to come up with $6000..

lol, yea, didnt you pretty much just buy that thing?:rolleyes: You didnt even give it a chance, and i have seen stock predators go and they seem to go alright.

dude be lucky you have a predator at least it can keep up / beat 450r's depending onthe rider and what youve done to it. damn if the predator isnt fast enough for ya, you gona be buying a rocket ship next?:devil:

it's pretty close to what I want in terms of speed. i would really like a little more acceleration. the big thing that lures mean to the 450 is just how light and well balanced it is. hell i'll even take a YFZ for the right price.

these 450's are top of the ATV world for a reason obviously. 350lbs would be such a a difference, and if I had a 350lb machine I bet I could even take it down a good 10 lbs.

The Predator's good and fast but not the bast in MX style riding or tricky jumping. and the *** end won't stay put, too squirrly. it always messes up my drag racing by sliding around.

You got 500 cc's to work with,use them!You shood be able to kick but with miner mods.If you want to be a fool and play the quad of the month game go ahead and waste your money.But when you buy the R and the z450 comes out don't cry to me.

Don't worry RMX, many have tried to replace the Hondaness with something that appears to be a figment of imagination....but alas...it is a mirage. Eye candy of you will.

But like a good ole Grandpappy, Honda will always take you back when you have strayed from the flock.:D

The YFZ's and TRX's that I have seen weighed in at 375 race ready, so they really aren't "that" light - just depends on what you compare them to.

They are, however, probably better all around machines than your Pred...

And I agree with looking forward to Suzuki, but my real true interest is Kawi - they always have had innovative products and I want to see what they do. They haven't been afraid to think outside the box and I love that...

Cdale still takes the cake, even after being out of business. @ 50hp to the rear wheels now, and I got less than 4800 in it....brand new + everything added on. If I was a better rider...I can gurantee it would top even the best bikes out there. I pulled two unmentioned pros in an open field section...like they weren't moving...too bad I can't do that in the woods, owell it is a great quad.

i hate to say it, but the new Suzuki 450 is going to dominate both the yfz and the trx with no doubt in my mind. They have the most powerful motors, and always will have the best IMO. I'm just going to sit back and watch the quad wars go because im 14 and wont need a 450 until im 16 because of my class, so i'll get the best when the time comes, idc what color it is. :cool:
