IN an atv action shootout between the blaster 250ex, lakota, mojave, and trail blazer the overall winner was the blaster, then 250ex, lakota mojave, and last the trail blazer.

I think Id probably go with the Blaster out of the bunch....just get some hydraulic rear brakes, pipes and reeds.....thier not too bad if your a smaller rider. Although the Mojave isnt bad if you build it a little....my friend has his 2001 Mojave for sale...its got about $1500into it. I think he wants 3200 out of it.
You can leave a post for him if your interested at [url]http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/northwestillinoisatvs[/url

I would rather have my 250ex rather than any of the others you mentioned. The blaster is nice but its a 2 stroke and you have the oil gas thing. I have my 250ex running 60mph and i can beat a blaster. I really love honda reliability. The 250ex pulls wheelies so easy compared to the others. The trail blazer is slow/ thats cause its a polaris! just kidding. i would have to pick the 250ex also cause its got that reliable recon engine. I also dont like clutches for the type of riding I do.
Thats just my 2 cents.

hey i know this isnt in your choice but i would go with the 300ex

250ex dude...

I have my 250ex running 60mph

60mph on your 250ex? the only mods you have is a WB pipe,
i highly dought your hitting 60mph, mabe going down a steep hill,
and the mojave wheelies much easier then the 250ex,

out of all those you listed i would want the mojave

between the lakota and mojave.....mojave is 5 speed...375 pounds..with a 250 DOHC engine.
the lakota is 460 pounds....300cc(with less power)...5 speed auto clutch...and had racks on it last year if that tells you anything.
The one thing about these quads is there handling though...they handle awesome and jump pretty good as well

First don't say the 250s are slow! i doubt it hit 60 but ask tyler(250EX_extreme) there might be 1-3 mph difference between a 250 and my 300(ex) i weigh 130 he weighs around 100 and it is everything i can do to pass him on a gravel road pinned(hitting the rev-limiter) in 5th but anyway, for the most part a blaster will eat a 250 alive with a few simple mods, they lack good suspension(but ya can't say much for the 250's either, unless you're a bit heavier when i ride one it feels so solid feels like no suspension! but then the oil gas thing, blasters feature a oil injection system put gas in one tank oil in the other and away ya go! and IMHO I couldn't ride a bike without a clutch anymore it drives me nuts! a clutch bike is so much more fun, (i think) but it also depends on what your doin, blasters are a ton of fun for a smaller rider with faster trails, but probably not a good bike for begginers, but then again honda's reliability its all up to you thou but i would probably have to say blaster on this one if you experienced sorry so long, hey i'm bored and its raining and like 30 degress outside:(

Out of the list u mentioned i would take a blaster. one of my friends has a 250ex and he hates it. my other friends blaster hauls. he is getting it bored, pipe, boysen rad valves and reeds, liquid cooling, etc. it will fly, when we both start to race.

they sell big bores that will keep up the 250r's

other good 250's....? Honda 250x and William Yokley's mojave stuffed with a kx250

I don't think that 250's are slow, I like everything about the 250EX, and out of that list I would most likely choose the 250EX. I just don't think it will hit 60mph.

We have a 250EX and LOVE it. I don't know which bike is faster or better for racing...but the 250EX is a good all-around bike...especially to learn on. It isn't the fastest or most powerful of the lot, but it handles real nicely and wheelies well. It even jumps well as long as you don't go too big. My oldest son (13) has ridden his for 1 1/2 years and still loves it. He is ready to move up to the 400EX and my youngest (9) will inherit the 250EX. As the one PAYING for the bike and the maintenance, I REALLY love it. It has thus far proven to be very reliable and low maintenance.

My 250ex hit 60 on a wide open rode riding next to my dads 2002 grizzly. Now I only weigh 110 lbs, i have the wb pipe and airfilter and i know i need to rejet but i have not gotton to it. It might be my weight., i will admit that the suspension isnt very good though on the 250ex. im not trying to start anything by saying that my 250ex is running 60. could it be doing this because its running rich. it only backfires when i let off the gas. i am only 13 and this was an awesome bike for me to start on. i never felt like it was outa my league.

if i were u i would look for a good condition 250X, people say that they were the best 250 4 stroke ever made and to date still are, when i made a thread about my 250X tons of people awncerd and none of them were saying anything that was against the X, i have def beaten blasters, i have also beat 300ex's and warriors, but it is not the machine that matters when u drag race it is the rider, but also my mods help me a bit. who cares about how fast u can go down a road, i would rather be faster though a trail or a track were it takes something more then differnt gearing to win..

I have a 300ex with a wb e-series + header and a k&n filter w/ outerwear, and a k&n jet kit. I really like it! My dad has the same set-up on his 400ex which is fast but my 300ex will smoke my friends little blaster- it has powercore, k&n powerup kit and holes in the air box.

ALL I SAY TO YOU IS GET A 300EX YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. 250ex you wioll have to move up to a bigger bike in like a year cuz you will be bored.....

hope you pick a HONDA !

i would like to see a blaster keep up with a 250r, i'm not saying it couldnt be done but it would be interesting to see. but out of your choices i would choose the blaster, i had one with a fmf pipe silencer, and a few other mods and it would give my fathers piped 300ex a good run. i just think you would have more fun on a blaster. but after a year i got tired of the old blasturd and decided to get a real quad and now i am going after near stock banshees, raptors, and lt250r's. i love honda but i would never buy a 250ex.

There is no way a 250ex could go 60mph unless it had lots of mods. Blasters could eat up 250ex and from my experiences i can eat up my friends blaster. So there is no way a LITTLE 250ex is gonna ride with the big boys. The thing doesnt even have a clutch. Be a real man brokeitin- and get a 250R,400ex, 300ex, or actually even a raptor 80 for you !

who cares how fast it goes, my 250r goes 75 (with stock gearing)and i've only done that once at a dragstrip. i dont feel like arguing with a stupid *** like u, your calling me a punk and look at what u have. you cant even ride a real quad,u ride a quad that a 12 year old would ride.

i would get a blaster there a lot of fun my friend has one all done up
it has a fmf fat pipe
pro tec boost bottle
durablue 2+2+ axle
renthal bars
uni filter
and trenga hydrolic rear brake
and more mods
and it rips and its fun doin donuts of em too you can ride them fast and they are pretty stable in the air plus with 6gears u really move and there is no mixing

I would go with a blaster or 300ex. There are way more mods for them and they are alot more fun to ride. Also someone said you have to mix oil and gas with a blaster. Thats not true if you have the stock oil injection hooked up, all you have to do is fill the gas tank and put oil in the oil tank.

03-24-2002, 09:10 PM
the blaster. im a honda man but id rather have a blaster over a 300ex, my cousin has worked his blaster and it will keep up with are 400exs and the suspension is not all that bad and the breaks are not the greatest but my cousin has got more than a season out of a set of brake pads, also they react to hop ups more, im 234 pounds and nce he took the front fenders off i coudl ride it comfortably and it had plenty of power for a lil 200 air cooled quad, i accidently overjumped a 20 ft tabletop on his blaster and i was ready for a real ride and suprisingly it bottomed nicely and was not harsh at all, i say blaster , turn the front rims around, 18s on the back and a better skid plate and thier great
