View Full Version : 300EX making RATTLING noises

Me and my Friend both got 300EX's. His makes a funny noise compared to mine. I can hear like a rattling noise coming from the engine or somewhere around there. ANY solutions? THanks!:confused:

What year are the 300ex's? That rattling noise may be the reverse shifter on the side of the engine, mine seems to rattle around sometimes

BOTH are 2000! and i dont think that its the reverse handle.
BTW, mine is for sale in NJ!

My wife's does the same thing and I was told it is the reverse gear tapping against the other gears because hers seems to go away as rpm increases it kind of made sense to me seeing as that is about the only thing extra on the 300's compared to the others.

exhaust heat shield bolt is lose..(happened to me)

reverse gear "lever"...the metal arm rattles sometimes also.

make sure lug nuts are tight.

check skid plate bolts.

THESE are all things I've experienced myself or heard someone else find on "300ex rattle"

ride slow on a bumpy streight path...and lean your head down by where it seams to be coming from...."watch out for that tree"....
