My 416 is currently set up for mx and I want to set it up for XC. It's 48.5'' wide in the front and 50'' wide in the rear. I can take the spacers off my axle and be at 46'' in the rear. Is this still too wide for XC? Will any rim offset help this problem? Thanks

nah, 46" should be fine back there :)

48" up front is pretty ok too. figuring a stock Z400 is 45.9" at its widest point and a stock 400ex is 45.3"

you can get like 1" skinnier, but i don't think it'll matter much.

i agree with Batgeek..if you take your spacers off you will be fine...

OK, thanks. Also, is it absolutely necessary to have full fenders? Does fullbore make add-ons? Thanks again.

fullbore doesn't make add-ons...but IMO i don't think full fenders are necessary, but then again, alot of people do.

What offset front wheels do you have? If you are running a 3/2 offset you could move to a 4/1 offset and narrow up the front to 46.5" which would be very close to the rear and probably a tad easier to handle in the tight woods. :macho

I think I have a spare set of 4/1's lying around somewhere. I'll use those if I do.

I would not want to be any wider then 46" front and rear if you are going to be racing XC. 4/1 wheels will help, but might not be enough.

Get front fenders man Roostin dale must ride on the pavement!A steering damper and swingarm skid, we run 46" on the tight stuff!

you will want to change the tires to a good 6 ply, get full fenders, steering stabilizer, maybe an anti-vibe stem some skid plates(chassis and swingarm) maybe a larger gas tank that should be about it

48 is too wide I think. I've been that wide before and i hit a lot of trees...:o Since I went to 4/1 0ffset wheels It feels like i'm about 30 inches now. My rear is 48 and I have no problems but the 48 up front is not fun...:(

It's my understanding that most gncc pros run 46" up front on +1 a-arms with 4-1 offsets. If its good for them, then it should be good for the rest of us.
