Today was the race at "Pheasant Farm" in Parsons WV. The weather was perfect and the track was full of difficulties the young riders had to overcome.

50cc Open rider and class points leader Michael Mussi prepares to widen his lead on the 50 class. Michael is a very talented rider and if he continues his progress I expect to see lots of him in the future!

As soon as the 50cc race ended it was time to get them lined up. The start at this level of racing is every bit as important as the adult races

Pappy
04-24-2004, 04:58 PM
The start was clean and all the riders wanted to be first to hit the woods.

Pappy
04-24-2004, 05:00 PM

Pappy
04-24-2004, 05:30 PM
riley moves his Honda to the inside in an attempt to make the pass. he didnt get the pass on the uphill, however he carried enough speed that a pass on the top was within reach!!

Pappy
04-24-2004, 05:31 PM
Howell knew he had to act or Riley would take the overall position. After several attempts by Riley to pass, each was met with firm blocking by Howell and he kept his position!

Lap 7 had D. Howell pass me without Riley on his grab bar. Riley had to get passed lapped traffic and it cost him an overall. He did however win his class!!

Pappy

Pappy

Pappy
04-24-2004, 05:52 PM
As he passed me I could see him looking across the course to spot the leaders. I had my fingers crossed that today would be the day he finally met his goal of a top 3 finish!!

Pappy
04-24-2004, 05:55 PM
As fate would have it, after Cody cleared the creek his chain came off. Spectators rushed to get him going as I ran across the creek to help. We got it on and he was off....only to have the chain come off again 300 yards further down course. He had broken a chain adjuster and his day was done. A special thanks to the spectators and OUTLAW Racing for getting him safely off the track.

I would like to thank you for the great race coverage! I know that when your busy snapping pictures that you don't always get to enjoy the race as much! So far Kyle is doing very well this year !last year he came in 2nd and 3rd alot i guess all that practice has done him some good! He was racing an lt 80 last year. Then we got his honda and he loves the challenge of changing gears. Good luck to Cody See you at the next race!;)
