Good Morning! We have one of these in our shop. Once set up right it works awesome! The 400EX Arms either stock or aftermarket are a better choice as they are the same chassis tab width as the 250X and 300EX. We used a 16 1/4 inch Ohlin Shock off of a Cannondale and then built a mount for that relocated the top shock mount outward and upward. The bike now has 12 1/2 inches of travel up front using the 400EX +2 American Star Sport Star A-Arm. Of course other manufacturers arms will work as well. Its a great way to give the 250X/300EX the same travel as the 250R or 400EX. We can provide you with some pics if it will help you! Good Luck!

Yes, and it does give it more travel and a wider stance, but the tie rod angle is off, causing bumpsteer. and although its a cheap way to get more travel and a wider stance, its better to stay with +2 300ex a arms instead of using 400ex arms.

if u use a relocator top mount u cant race production do to geometry change to the frame.... my 300 is set up perfect i love it... 400ex +1 arms with custom length 14 3/4 inch works
once u get it to work it will be fine... bit of advice dont grind the frame!!!!!!! grind everything else

I have 400ex wicked products +2 arms, 400ex spindles, and custom length 14 1/4 inch shocks made by TCS, i find the bumpsteer to be less than my old Laeger front end but the turning radius is VERY wide (since i race MX that isn't a problem)

(yes my quad does have stickers, bumper, and nerfs...just arent in the pics...)

The shockmount bracket moves the mounting location up and forward from stock. Make sure your a arms are on correctly. The 250r shocks will not bolt on without the shockmount bracket. Be warned though that this setup does not work very well especially for trails. The bump steer will wear you out long before your buddies get tired. I would highly recommend you listen to Jeff. I had the conversion for a while and I didn't like it on the trails and it felt nervous at high speed.

Here's the conversion that I can do for $200. I'm going to work on the bump steer issue and see what mine really is, even though I don't feel any at all. It well out handles my stock 400ex and I can whip my buddies on 400ex's on my TT track w/ this setup. I will do some number crunching in a couple of weeks and tell you what the bump steer really is in measurements and how much you need to move your tie rods to fix the problem. I have a fresh set of works triples, custom length set up for this conversion that will let you use the stock top mounts. Rebuilt by Derisi and new powder coating.
