View Full Version : 2004 GNCC Round #6 Loretta Lynn's AM Race

The AM race had over 380 riders sign up to race, and almost 150 them were in two the the C classes, which made for a very exciting start.

Rick Cecco knew that the Loretta Lynn track becomes extremely whooped out during the race. He didn't want to take any chances of traci snapping a chain, so he replaced it and trickle charged the YFZ battery to try to prevent Traci from having to deal with a dead battery during the race.

The competition between Traci and Stephanie has again been very intense, and Stephanie has been able to capitalize on Traci's injuried wrist with several wins in a row. Stephanie had her share of problems at Big Buck when she lost her foot peg, and Traci went on to easily win the race. Traci is finally well again, so the womens championship is still up for grabs with Stephanie having a slight advantage.

If Traci can come on strong at the end like in prevoius year, the 2nd half of the season should be another nail bitter to see who will be crowned the fastest woman cross country racer!

Brandon Sommers, 16-24 C Class Rider, has been tearing up the competition this year by finishing every race in the top three. Also, he has managed to work his way through the riders that start in front of him and be able to finish in the top 20 overall almost every race. One thing he has on his side is an awesome mechanice Lazarous Sommers of GT Thunder. Brandon may still be racing a 400EX, but I am sure that thing could out run almost any quad on the line.

Also, Brandon has been extremely consistant this year and has worked his way up to currently be ranked 4th overall in finishes out of hundreds of riders.

A big congratulations goes out to Brandon and his team for a great start to the series:macho

Racer Production continued to check Kill cords at the Loretta GNCC, but they didn't do a sound test this week. They did release a flyer stating that they will be enforcing the 104db reading at Sparta. If your quad reading exceeds the standard, they will not allow you to race.

By 9:30AM, several hundred quads lined the perimeter around the starting line waiting for the mad dash to their starting position, which can be as intense as the start of the race.

After everyone gets lined up, the social 1/2 hour begins with everyone walking around and greeting fellow racers before the race. One of the greatest things about GNCC racing is amount of friendly people that participate in the sport.

Well, I will rephrase that last caption,"With the exception of Ben, lol" :D

Ben finally realized he wasn't another Jeff Stoess just because he was on a Cannondale, so he signed up for the C Class.

I must say that he had his cannondale looking awesome before the race.

Mike "Supertrap" had his mouth wide open as usual:D

Mike has been kind enough the past year to compile the overall results after each event and post them for everyone to see how well they are doing, and it is very much appericiated.

The 4 stroke stock class is one of the most competitive classes this year in the GNCC with several riders having their change make it to the podium, and not one rider has yet to win the class more than once.

Michael Sioka Jr has been the most consistent and is currently leading the class in points, but Craig Reed, Will Cashion, and Tyler Lenig are all within in striking distance.

Jean Lovely and Stephanie Parton also spend some time together chatting before I interupted them and said "Smile."

The may all be competitors during the race, but they are good friends on the line, which is awesome.

Stephanie smiled for me on the line, but I don't think I would have gotten this after the race :D

The racers head down the straight away for a hard left turn, which is typical for a GNCC start.

Admin

But, unlike most starts, there was another hard right turn only little over a hundred feet past the first turn, which made for some extremely interesting starts.

Dusty, C&D Racing, was slow to get off the line, but once she got going, she wheelied the trx450r down the straight away for the first turn.

by the time she rounded the 2nd turn she was in last place, but she was on the gas. She rode hard the entire 1st lap and managed to work her way up to 8th, but sadly, she cased a double on the MX track and broke her arm :(, but that didn't stop her from finishing the lap.

Dusty had two pins put in her arm when she returned home, so my prayers go out to her for a speedy recovery.

Cat, the guy on the R bumped into a v-force in the air knocking him sideways. I was right behind him coming over the jump and all I could think of was "fudge". That is me in the background trying to flag people down coming over the jump. The word I got on another site is that he broke his collar bone but is doing well.
