I was thinking of getting a 250x soon. Are they lighter than the 300ex? I was looking for upgrades to the motor mostly. What is availible? Just the cam piston, and rev limiter? Or is there much else? Also, will it outrun a 300ex with a cam? Thanks everyone!:)

You can get anything you want for it. I have never rode a stock X but some do say they are a little faster than a 300ex, I don't know. They are a few pounds lighter than a 300ex but not by much. If you are going to race at all, suspension upgades will make you faster than basic motor mods.

Have fun!

Go wth suspenion first....than look into motor mods.

I do know that the 250X has a little more aggressive cam, and I think the 250X and 300EX are pretty close in motor performance. Just about any motor upgrade you can think of is available for the 250X. Big bore, head modifications, high-compression pistons, camshaft, stroker cranks, you name it.

If you want to get really crazy with it, you can throw in the motor from a 350X three-wheeler. Powroll sells a kit, and it will make your little 250X run with the big boys...

I'm not looking forward to racing, just trail riding. How is the suspension? Is it bad?

Stock suspenion is ok for trial riding.....but if you have the money, get a cheap pair of works. Maybe even Elka;)

It depends on how aggressively you want to hit the trails. If you want to be zipping through whoops and jumping creekbeds, I'd say you're going to have a rough time. However, since you're looking at a 250X, it doesn't sound like this describes you're riding plan. I'd say the stock suspension is just fine for you. It's actually a little softer than the stock 400EX suspension, although it doesn't have quite as much travel.

I'm very light, about 120. I've ridden many 400ex's. I like them a lot too. I was going to get one, but I want something that costs less for now. If the suspension is a bit softer, I'll like it alot!:) It'd probably be hard for me to bottom it out anyways.;)

all i used to ride was trails and hit some small jumps. the stock suspension was fine for that and i was about ur size. but since i started racing mx and got bigger i had to improve the suspension.
