Outerwears makes an airbox cover, but im not totally sure if it would fit a 300ex. u should check into one of those.

I dont know the website for outerwears, but i know that a lot of places sell them, like nacs. you could just call them and ask if it would fit. They tell u for sure.

As long as you run an outerwear on your filter, you should be o.k. w/ an open airbox. If there is a 'drain plug' on the bottom of your airbox, remove it.

Don't use the velcro to attach the cover. Simply take your stock lid and cut the center out of it. Then use that along with the stock clamps to hold the outerwares in place.

I drilled six holes in the lid and then put window screen on the inside and silacone them to the inside. I also run a Outerwears on my filter. Haven't thought about taking the plug out but sounds like a good idea.

here is what you can do if you remove the airbox plug. it will keep splash water, dust & mud out, AND let water flow out. cut the finger off of a rubber glove......cut a small slit in the finger tip........then zip tie it in place.

i sealed mine up tighter than a............
i took a little twig that went from real small to real big gradually
rammed it in there and broke it off....then took super glue and filled the rest of the hole up..becouse.i went off in some water one day during a nice hot ride to kool off the engine a bit....got it deep enugh to submurge the side cases....just kinda backed off in there kinda slow...shut it off and sat there drank a little gatoraid and smoked a stogie other rider's pulled off in there too.....then fired it up and decided to see how big of a wave all of us could make comin out ...just for fun.....ended up getting water in that little hole and messing half the rest of the day up.....but the 300 man..it really needs some sort of cooling sysytem on it....i know you can buy one but.......i just plugged it and next time i'm tired i'll runn off in some water for about 10 minute's and let it cool...i was thinking like this...if that little thing is to catch water.well water would have to come through my air box lid to get in...and my air filter 's right there...water in.air sucking..sucks up the water...sputter sputter...thats my alarm.i don't see a point in having it....the end....
