Machine Shop Blues

I was just wondering what everyone paid when they had their cylinder bored and how long it took the machine shop to do it. I paid 90$ at a local shop for my 416 and it took them 8 days. I don't think I got a very good deal.

I had mine punched out from stock to a 426 for 50$ and it was done the next day.

I JUST HAD MINE 300EX CYLINDER PUNCHED .60 AND CLEARENCED FOR $35.00, GOT IT BACK IN TWO DAYS.

We out-source our boring at work to a guy that charges us $20/hole, and we charge $32 to customers. Shop around next time and you will find a better deal. Just make sure you go to a reputable place that will measure precisely. I have heard many nightmares from customers that come in about out of round, over/under sized bores, and sleeve chipping. Most places will do a nice job though for a fair price.
