It's a 4-stroke but I don't know if it's a 5-speed or a 4-speed like the YZF...someone know?

The crf450 is a 5 speed. I would try to get a 450R, instead of a crf motor in a 400ex frame. Reason being is the 450R tranny is beefed up to pull the weight of the quad. CRF motor makes good power but if you can get it to the ground what good does it do? Besides the 450r is soooo detuned its not even funny. You can get that motor to pull just as hard as a crf450 motor. JMO

i went riding sunday and saw a 450r, new honda, we made a track around the sand flats and we would watch each other go, with the usual 4 foot sand berms

it went pretty good and sounded great

but comin off the huge berm, he lost it and he flew off and his bike rolled from top to bottom, grab bar to front bumper, it looked like a cool crash, not that i want it to happen, and i noticed he had it fully loaded with skid plates:D

i flew over there to make sure he was alright
