What was everybodies motive of breaking her in? Did you just do the 400ex style, easy does it, vary rpm, for about a gas tank full?
then change the oil and rip it up?

i gave her hell from the beginning. i have had 1 streetbike(gsxr 600) 2 dirtbikes(ttr90, cr125) 3 quads (banshee, raptor, 450r) and i broke them in all the same way. nothing has ever broke for me engine wise, and i generally changed the oil from 3/4 tank to a whole tank gone.

I agree with schmitthead. Warm it up for 4 or 5 minutes then ride it like you normally do.

I took it easy for about 1 hr then rode it! Was told needed to not baby it or the ring would not seat properly.

Honda recommends three heat cycles of 15 minutes at various loads, letting the motor completely cool between each cycle. this is so that the rings will properly seat. Ask the dealer what they recommend. Personally if you take it easy through the first tank you should be ok.

Pretty much rode it normal for the first tank, let it cool down alot, but never pinned it. I changed the oil (engine and tranny) after that tank.

Rode it like normal on the second, had it wide open a couple times just not for long. I went longer before shutting it down and changed oil (engine and tranny) again after the second tank.

I now ride it more like normal and will wait til the 4th tank to change the oil (probably just engine, tranny in a couple more tanks) again. After that, change it every 3 or 4 tanks.

My tranny oil looked pretty much brand new after each tank.

Im use to changing oil on the DS i use to have which was twice as much money each time, so now im just changing it twice as much on my 450r.

Cant hurt to change more often than usual if it makes me feel better.
