I finally got around to installing my FCR that I bought used from another member.

Got everthing hooked up but am concerened about the throttle cable. It is a little longer than my stock one, so I think I have the right length.

But if I wanted to, I could pull on the cable like on the front of the bike and the throttle would stick wide open. It doesn't get locked down like the stock one. I'm concerened if I flipped or something and a branch got caught on in it the throttle would stick open.

Anyone else have this problem? Do I have the right cable?

Thanks

yeah, mine is a long one too. what do you mean they don't lock down?? i am not sure where your talking about? the cable will skrew in to the piece of metal on the carb. then you put the nut on the back to hold the cable in place.

I had one made for mine...its identical to the stocker, maybe even a tad shorter?

I think I'm gonna try the YFZ cable like thomas recommended...

Yes it is screwed into the carb and to the throttle on the assembly, but where the rubber transitions from the raw cable (right where it screws into the carb) can be pulled back. So if you grabbed the cable you could open up the carb.

I know its hard to visulize, i might have to take some pics.

what you want to do is zip-tie the cable to the handlebars, if you think about it that can happen with almost any cable...

and yes the cables on both of mine are gigantic, just tuck them under the front plastic and your good to go :p

Well, since my FCR shipped today, I stopped by the dealership and ordered a YFZ cable. :D

I'll be sure to include details of how well it works in my review of the carb.

are you putting all the items on at once or one by one?

I'm installing the MSD ignition first and make sure I get that all dialed in.

Then I'll probably end up installing the exhaust, only starting the engine to make sure there are no exhaust leaks. Once that's verified, i'll install the carb.

Should be a lot of fun...hopefully it won't take me too long to get everything tuned properly. :D
