I was recently looking at my buddies 250r. He wants 600 for it. The only problems are is that the clutch slips and the exhaust leaks out where the piston is a little bit? Is this a good deal?

Sure it's a good deal. The clutch can be replaced quite inexpensively and the leaking is just the metal ring where the expansion chamber mounts. Both repairs should be quite easy. If possible though do a compression check.
I would ask others in the forums to find out proper compression numbers would be.
Also be sure the leak is isolated to the exhaust outlet. Other than that they are quite bulletproof.
