Hey,

I was reading the torque specs on the site and was confused by it. In my service manuel it says to torque the center bolt down to 17ft lbs. But it never gives a torque spec for the 12 smaller bolts. Are the 12 smaller bolts supposed to be torqued at 8ft lbs?

Thanks Norm

It's pretty confusing.. The orginail torque spec is out of the front of the manual..

Then someone claiming to be a dealer tech emailed me that it was a missprint, after looking at the bolts I figured he might be right..??

Anyone have the scoop on the botls?

I read somewhere that is 6-7 ft lbs. (I think in my Helm manual?) I put about 7 on mine and that does fine.

Yikes!

Can someone fill me in on this! I've got to put one back together tomorrow. It's my buddies and so far one bolt is busted, and another pulled the threads right out with it. I'm guessing this would be a direct result of improper torque specifications.

After stipping one of mine also, I just tighten them till they were snug. Seems to be fine so far. The big center bolt I followed the spec's - I don't remember what it was, but 17-18ft lbs sounds about right.
