i would probably not run it and find out where the oil is coming from. then we can go from there.

So is the oil from your quad, did u check to see how much oil the engine had?

the bolt on the bottom where you drain the oil fell off. But do u think that the engine is seized. should i get a new bolt put it on fill it up with oil and start it up.

if your engine is seized it wont run...that should be easy to figure out...my friend ran out of oil once on a fourtrax 300 & he drove it for like 10 feet

it shouldnt have seized if u didnt run it long.
just replace the plug and fill it up wit oil and try to turn over the engine
then u will see if it seized or not

I once ran a Mustang for over 5 minutes before I figured out that I forgot to put oil in after emptying it. There was no damage whatsoever! It is sometimes amazing how long an engine can run on a simple coating of oil.:huh

There may have been no noticeable damage but i'm sure there was some wear and life taken away from the motor. Meaning the motor may last 100k miles rather than 150k miles, JMO;) :)

he said he went 100 yds...I thought this was a little far with no oil & he said it sputtered & died by itself

It dosne't hurt your engine that bad to run it for a short while without oil..

When I used to race go-carts I know for qualifying laps most racers would drain there oil to get a lil more power outa there engine (dont ask me why).. people would run there engines for about 10 minutes at full force, then re-fill with oil and actually race...

If you ran it for like 10-20 minutes your engine is prolly ****ed..

but if you looked down like 30 seconds after it poped out ur prolly fine..

When you notice oil is running out of your quad, shut it off, dont drive it

Throw a new drain plug in it and some oil and go for it.

I agree. I figured this was a no brainer...guess that is why we are here.

a friend of mine drained the oil out of his 200 3 wheeler and forgot to refill it he rode it about 45 minutes and it finally locked up they let it cool back down refilled it and it still ran fine

once i locked up the oil pump in my mustang i drove it about 4 miles back home tore the motor down and there was absolutly no damage whatsoever

I put a new drain plug in it and started it up. It ran great and it switched threw all of the gears fine, and it sounded fine.
