You could always just drill the rims, like I did. I had a set of turf tamers from my 400ex and wanted them for my YFZ.. I just drilled them to a Yamaha bolt pattern. Hey it saves weight too! ha, jk.:blah:

LOL yep this is true :) Actually we got it figured out we got some freebie tires off of a Polaris 90 :eek2: & another set of rims those tires are like little holeshots & worked GREAT the boy was HOOKED UP this weekend in fact he took 2nd in the A main :D :macho & 1st in his heat!! We also put some spacers on the rear so it'll stick a little better & not high side as much heck it's ALMOST ready for ME to ride  I'm just letting them get all the kinks worked out so it'll be all dialed in for me heheheheee

you'll need to run 4:1 offset front rims to keep under 50". pep shocks will work good on any a-arms, cept maybe the ars-fx

Typically shock companies build shocks for a-arms not the other way around. So I am sur some long travel shocks will work and I am sure some will not. Take houser for instance. Long travel elka shocks for their a-arms are yfz 18.5" 400ex 19" 450R 19.5"

yes this brings up a good point, if your buying used LT shocks, make sure they're for your quad, and your quad only. even if they bolt up, it will not ride nearly as good as it should. all of the LT yfz shocks and a-arms will work with one another, but you wont get the best out of your setup unless the shock is built/rebuilt for those weight, rider ability, and a-arms

Walsh's site is alittle slow in being updated. Give them a call. I think houser uses 19.5" shocks.

the lower heims actually hold up good. but the G5 like eldon is sayin, is the way to go. solid lowers, full +3. they're not on the website yet

i dont know what houser runs, but the Roll/ JB like you listed use the 18.5" long travel like practically all of the yfz LT a-arms are

i am going to get a new front end for my bike (walsh +3 with 4/1 offset rims) because i am going to race MX this year.
but i really enjoy dune riding and go most weekends as we only live 45mins drive from some good dunes will +3 be to wide for dunes? i read it in dirt wheels and it has had me second gusseing about my chose of A arms... i also spoke to rudy at DFR and he has good prices on a PEP lonestar fnt end witch is only +2
i figured if i ran +2 with stock offset for MX and then ran the 4/1s for the dunes it would be ok
what would you do if u were me? this is my first long travel front end will i realy know the dif betwen the +3 4/1 and +2 3/2

sorry havent seen 7 i live in australia and it isent out yet.
i just read the dirt wheels artical on the two yfzs in the dunes and the said the stock width yfz was more nimble and easyer to ride in the dunes
what i really want to know is if the lsr A arms are good compaired to the walsh? rudy at dfr has them for $us1650 with pep shocks
i estimated it to be about 2100 for the walsh pep set up .

what i really want to know is if the lsr A arms are good compaired to the walsh? rudy at dfr has them for $us1650 with pep shocks
i estimated it to be about 2100 for the walsh pep set up .
is the walsh worth the exta 500 dollars?
thanx

Walsh is the way to go. Sorry about the H7 and dune comment. You can ride a wide bike in the dunes easily i think. wide bikes are easier to throw around as they are not tipsy. PM me or hit me up on AIM at MxYFZ. I could get a good deal on the a arms for you. They retail for just over 1,200. Let me know. I would run walsh/elka. I have that setup and love it. Im actually selling my front elkas right now for a different pair. 18.5" long, valved for walsh a arms, 170 pounds. I'd sell those to you also if you want.:D :D

Ahh, VERY slow..lol. Whay did you bring it up :( So far I only have small things...Tag bars, propegs, exhauts, filter, rotors, etc etc. I will have an LT front end extremely soon hopefully. And my dad borrowed 3g from me...so as soon as he pays me back i will have the hipers, hubs, tires, axle, and rear shock/ linkage...

I also have a 1996 aftermarket 300ex i will start to part out soon to get some cash in..

I have not order the front end yet....But i am getting elka quadrates, and Im in a toss-up between a-arms still....You have got me thinking about Viper...other choices are, Houser, Herrmann, JRD, JB....You know, name brand but not outragous price like other name brands...

I am making a post as we speak parting out a 300ex, so hopefully that will get some cash to me...

Here's a pic...if it works... of my YFZ. It's basically in really beat up stock condition. But what really makes it stand out from the rest are the different offset front rims so my front end is wider on one side.....lol.... I think this helps the overall handling because of the extra weight on the right side of the quad because of the rear brake assembly, twist throttle, and the paint on my right peg ;)

Sadly I'm not kidding about the offset rim thing. But you get used to it :(

yeah mag, being classified as a white metal, will oxidize very quickly there is no hope for it if left raw. Mine holds up pretty well till i wash the bike,,,then i have to polish it again. but i like the way it looks......so i take the time. i use heavy metal polish and it keeps good........those pics were on the 12th,,,,,,and now it sits out in the shop and looks just like that......well minus my wife LOL

It is a new weight loss program. No air in the tires actually makes a good seat while working on the bike. Hense the flat spots in them. lol. Ill be filling them up today. Don't worry.:D

Me by about a quad and a half. We both have the same mods too. Exhaust, K&N air Filter, and rejetted. His 450R has a milder type of power, but is still fast. Both are totally different machines in every aspect IMHO.
