I am going to be putting my 426ex back together this week and am having a dilema. I cant get a stock base gasket so I have been thinking about no base gasket or using the xr400 base gasket. Any suggasetions? Also this will be a wiseco 11to1 piston.

I think I have an XR gasket? Can't recall. If it fits it should work.

I think that base gasket is kinda low pressure, might be able to get by with some liquid gasket, I wouldn't try it just cause I'm lazy and hate opening motors up just to fix a stinkin gasket.

I used Hondabond on my base gasket. No problems yet. It will bump up your compression a bit too.

You should just wait until you can get the right gasket. So you dont run into problems down the road.

i am not sure if the xr gasket will fit around the 426 sleeve or not unless your running the stock sleeve yet. also, i would probably just use hondabond becasue with the wiseco pistons you will probably want all the compression you can get.

There is no RIGHT gasket. Hondabond was designed for this application. You would be fine with it...just make sure you spread a very thin layer with your finger.
