Use only an oil formulated for motorcycle engines. car oils are not made to lubricate the transmission along with the engine. i run the honda GN4 semi senthetic. it is specially formulated for motorcycles and is also used as two-stroke transmissions.

What they are trying to tell you is that the Mobile 1 oil with the red cap ONLY does not contain the friction modifiers that make conventional car oils harmful to an engine with a wet clutch. Otherwise in most cases you are right. You shouldn't use most conventional oils in a wet clutch application. You just need to understand that the Mobil 1 red cap is the exception to that rule. Hope this helps.

Thanks for clearing that up 300exOH. I too was wondering why people would use red cap instead of Mobil MX4T..............now we know!;)

I've been running monil one red cap for 2 race seasons now. I only use the clutch to holeshot tho. When i'm not racing i use it and it doesn't slip at all. It also lasts a lot longer then conventional oil. I can run 2 quarts of mobil 1 redcap for a whole season and not change it and still have it like new when it comes out. I change it during the winter and that is it. It is very good stuff. Mobil one redcap and amsoil are all i would run in my bikes.
