Hey everyone. I'm a cheapass, and didn't feel like buying fenders for my 300ex, but i hate gettin mud all over myself when i ride in the mud, so i thought hey...i'll make fiberglass fenders. Anyways, they look hideous, cause i didn't have a clue what i wanted them to look like, and i didn't have a mold...but they work. I'll try to get some pics up.

I'm also planning on ordering a pair of 450 fenders to use as a mold. If anybody's interested, i'll be selling them for $35 a pair. Real cheap, and in any color. I'll have pics after i finish my first pair. Hopefully, they'll fit 300ex, 400ex, and 450. we'll just have to see. Let me know if there's any interest, and if so i'll get goin on it.

yah first roll, first time you clip a tree, first time sombody runs into you, you can kiss em good bye fiberglass is far from flexible enough to be used as fenders

Yeah but they are real nice to paint.

In the 80s they sold fiberglass fenders for trikes and they held up well. You could get some sick paintjobs going and they look new forever.

i'll take flexibility and durability over paintability any day.

Nothing wrong with glass fenders if done right. If your'e worried about braking them, just learn to be a better rider.

fiberglass fenders just won't hold up to the shock and abuse that most people put thier bikes thru really has nothing to do with skill and since you seem to think of yourself as so high and mighty learn to be a better speller, it's breaking :huh

Well, if you want to talk about spelling, the proper English spelling is FIBREGLASS. You do speak English, you know, not Umericarn. Shock and abuse? Better get rid of speedboats, a whole lot of speedway cars and drag cars, swimming pools, planes, yachts etc. Glass fenders must make you a better rider. I suppose thats why I 've won 4 national titles and 3 state titles racing quads here in Australia. I just didn't want to fall off a BREAK my FIBREGLASS fenders.

bout time to settle the hell down, everyone. I'm not making them to be "better" than plastic...just cheaper. and that has been done successfully. in fact, VERY successfully. So ya'll (hows that for umericarn) can just settle down.

I have been asked to make fenders in the past and have turned it down because of the liability. Kinda hard to get cut by plastic. If you roll and the glass busts it will cut you pretty bad. You will not be able to pick it out like a splinter either because it will be barbed. I would like to see a pic of what you made anyway.

good idea but no, those things would ahve wholes in them from rocks first time out. And they would break off easy.

You need to make fiberglass hoods, something that is in a area that doesnt bend. Like copy the looks of the quadtech hoods, closely not exactly, and sell you fiberglass hoods for say 40 a piece.

I might buy a fiberglass hood it it looks good, but plastics, no way.

uh they will hold up to the shock abuse because the old 3-wheelrs had them and i still have a rear fenders from a old honda trike, and if the guy learns to ride better he wont crash
