not when you factor in what they can do for a TRUE XC racer not a weekend warrior.

Tire balls are great idea, great function, but not yet affordable for masses. Maybe with a competitor in the future prices will be forced lower.

i think a lot of R&D money needs to be recovered with an item like this.

That is why the 2nd company will do well. The idea is simple.... veeeerrrryyyy simple. Materials might cost 20 bucks IMO

it would be simple unless the 1st company patented the design. then company #2 would have to change the design to be alot different then the original.

it can be done im sure.

A very slight change and you have no patent worries. They are rubber balls filled with air.... I think competition would bring price down to 100 a tire.

if it comes down to 100 a tire i'am in, i heard it helps the handling of the quad also, is that ture???

It would make sense because the tire pressure is progressive

do you know if air can be added to the balls or taken away?? do they loose their pressure???

thomez

Yes I believe you can pressure but I don't think they should lose it. Maybe over a long while.

What exactly are tire balls? Are they like a renforced tube or what? what do they look like? Could someone please post a picture of what they look like. thanks.

Here's what one rear tire on Jeffs quad without tire balls looked like after a few test runs. You'll notice the tire on the right is OK..:eek2:

Yes, Tireballs cost $260.00/tire, but they are well worth the expense and the benefits out weigh the expense which isn't much more you would spend otherwise on spare wheels and tires. Plus, it can reduce your pit crew by atleast one person.
Also, the peace of mind knowing that you don't have worry about a flat tire ruining a great race.

When you travel several hundred miles to an event, spend countless hours preparing your quad, and lead are doing very well in the race only to have a tire to go flat. I have had this happen on several occasions and it really sucks. All that work and effort shot down the drain over a flat tire. The tireballs eliminate one variable that could prevent you from finishing a race and I think their product is awesome.

Again the Cost of $260/Tire. Well I use to have a complete set of spare tires and wheels mounted for backups if I got a flat which cost me Over $200 for the Tires and $450.00 for the Wheels. Also, I replaced my wheel studs with quick change long studs which wost 160.00 for all four wheels. Then, I bought a Snapon impact for 450.00 to make change a tire change quicker. After all was said an done. I had over $1,260 invested just to prepare for getting a flat tire. Also, I had to count on atleast one friend to wait with my tires everyrace and be ready to change a flat. This created a real headache when someone new came along and never touched a ATV Tire before.

Now, I don't have to worry about my tires and can concentrate on racing. I can go faster through rough sections were I would have been more cautious in the past because of a possible flat. I personally think Tireballs are a must have for anyone, and the cost isn't bad when you put into perspective. I think eventually the cost may go down as demand goes up. It is ecomonies of scale at work, and as more people catch on to how great they are the production expenses will decrease and lead to cheaper prices, but I wouldn't wait around because they are worth it at the current price.

If you are serious about racing, you will run tireballs. Will Cashion is a perfect example of what a flat can do. He would have Won the Overall in Texas, but he didn't have Tireballs and got a Flat and dropped to third overall and almost didn't make the podium.

I can't even say enough good things about Rod & Wade either. They are at every race and are willing to talk to you about the product. Its a great product from a super group of guys.

i read in dirt wheels mag that is makes the bike handle good on flat hard corning due to no flex in the tire, witch well make it very rouph riding in rouph terrian like trials and such, they also said it is good for adjusting the rear suspension becauses there is no tire flex
