it allows greater air-flow,which in return gives better throttle response, but letsmore dust in the airbox.

Its a good idea to do it when you add other mods like a pipe, that wasy you don't have to rejet a bunch of times.

If thats all you do and have the stock pipe, it will let the engine breath a little better. If you add a fliter and slip-on/full exhaust, its going to lean it out. You will need to re-jet to feel the power,and not burn up your motor.
