well my engine is about to be torn down so i can get a 440 kit. im having a hard time deciding which pipe to get tho. i know TC does great engines but dont know much about their pipes. i'v seen one on a yfz450 and it looked and sounded sweet and he said gave lots of power. my cosuin has an hmf slip-on on his 400ex and its nice but i was thinking maybe TC, CT, or sparks would be better. i have heard nothing but good things about the sparks also, and the CT seems to be really sweet too. what do yall think? how much does the TC cost? also, does anybody have pics of the TC pipe on a 400ex?

Go to www.curtissparks.com and read about their pipes. They look good, and only come in a full system, which is what you want, especially with a 440 kit. they are pretty loud, though,i must warn you. i searched the net for 400ex pipe shootouts and found where atv sport did a shoout last year and it dynoed with the most power. they had like 30 pipes. many say sparks is the only way to go for the most power.

Sparks x-6 pipe is the best for engine builders

well i'v narrowed it down to the sparks or the TC. and im leaning towards the sparks. i havent been really impressed with the hmf and money is not really a problem. still dont have a whole lot of info on the TC yet tho. what are the advantages of the ceremic and stainless steal coatings on the sparks?

stainless is obviously ... no rust

ceramic lets it breath and cool a little better

just to warn you they are both really loud

the sparks is very loud ... and the tc is even louder

well i just looked at some dyno numbers and the sparks had about a 2hp advantge over the TC. so i think i am going to go with the sparks. im going to be racing mx mostly. with the ocasional trip to the field so noise is not really a problem.

Ceramic traps heat in, so exhaust gases will stay hotter, and give more power.

Where did you get those dyno numbers? they dont seem to be correct to me. all of the dyno's i have ever seen have only showed a 2-2 1/2 hp increase max with a K&N fitler jetted over stock. that is the sparks. the next most power is the w/bros. , or at least it is up there. most all the pipes that are offered for the 400ex only differ in top h.p. about .3-.5-1.0 hp.the way you can tell the difference is by looking at the dyno charts and seeing which pipes have more low end, which pipes have th most mid and so on to see when your motor pulls the hardest. ill try to find the site with the pipe shootout on it and post it in this thread.

Everyone!! go to this site. It has color pictures and most of the leading pipes. it's a great shootout. http://www.atvnews.com/output.cfm?id=30961t.

thoes are top end hp numbers on that sight aint they? the sparks beat the tc from looking at thoes numbers, but im wanting to know who has the better bottom to mid power, im not going to be using top end on the mx track.

i have the tc on my 300ex and it real loud and gives it power but if u ride on trails that go by peoples houses do get it, its to loud to ride like that u can get people pissed and they might call the cops.
