well, its not so reiliable, my motor blew the other day, the guy said a rod broke, and took a bunch of stuff out 3-5g's to repair, bascially a new motor is needed and on top of that I my springs are in bad shape, a/c condenser has a big hole in it, oxygen sensers bad, I knew about those, the springs I was gonna fix, a/c would wait till I needed it, and oxygen sensors well lets say I'll buy a sticker. but I'm gonna get rid of the truck the pissing thing is the truck has 90,000 miles, its not worth much now I bought it new in 98, ford won't cover any of the work. anybody got a decent truck under $1000 to get me by for a few months, can be a 4 cylinder stick shift, as long as it gets me to work everyday and riding on sunday.

If I were you I wouldnt fix it, say you put 4 g's into it, you take off down the road right after you get it all fixed and you get hit and the truck is totalled, guess how much you will get from insurance for the truck?

knowing my luck it would happen. besides I'm not gonna fix a truck that needs work after the motor, granted I knew about it, not worth it.

what I would do now, is find a wrecked ranger (preferibly rear ended) of approx. the same year and trade the engines. Im gonna do that to an s-10 as soon as I find something.

Look in the wantad or in the paper, you can find old beat up Explorers and S-10s and chit for cheap. I saw like a 95 S-10 with 150k on it for like $800...wish I had the money so I could haul around my 400 since I have a car...I'm just lookin for a beater truck to haul the 400 in but don't have the spare money

my ranger has the 4 liter v-6 not a common ranger motor, I don't have much options as that was my only vehicle and I need a truck to haul around my bikes, a friend of mine has a Izzuzu(spelling) truck he wants $500 it runs good, standard tranny, I'm gonna go for it.

actually I wasn't beating it, I did alot of highway driving and local, very little off-road. I had other premature things go on it, the 4x4 hubs, brake calipers seized, those things were covered, themastat, everything was maintained to the book, I guess I got a fluke, figures just my luck

Sounds like you got a lemon then if all you did was highway miles.

Or get a 3,8 motor to swap in there pretty close to the 4liters. Preferbly a 3.8 out of a super coupe. But finding a wrecked ranger would probly be your best option.

I'm gonna call some motor shops and see what a motor installed will cost
