bent valve?

sorry if this ? has already been asked, but i think i have bent a valve in my '00 400ex. just wondering if ne1 else has ever done the same and how they went about fixing it.

Why do u think you have a bent valve? Have you had the head apart and might of not aligned the cam and chain correctly? The only fix I know is to pull the head and replace the bent valve. While u are there might as well check the rest of the head out such as the vavle seats ect... Good luck

i took on some water thru the spark plug hole...the plug vibrated loose and i didn't know it. i have blue smoke, but not a bad oil smell so that is where i'm getting the bent valve from.

actually sounds like you may have cracked a ring have you done a compression check

haven't checked that...but its not really using ne oil, which i figured it would if the rings where cracked or broken

well if it's blowing blue smoke then it's getting oil from somewhere to burn

i bent a valve and i didnt not have any compression it was stuck open and the bike wouldnt even start. If this is it the only way to fix it is to replace it and if it stuck open youll want to replace the springs also. Might as well do all the guide and lap the valves really good while your in there.
