Guys,

I'm going to play in the sand at snakehunt next week and decided to try a 12T on the front. I've got 9 paddle extreme grips on my 450R and want to get the best acceleration possible. The one thing I am curious about is if I will run out of top end before the drag is over- (125 to 150 yards). I know I'll have to stand on the gas tank to keep it down, but I should get some really good acceleration. I was curious if someone else had tried this. I ran the 13T for awhile and want to see how the 12T performs in sand.

I'm hoping to start in second gear as well for the drags, so I think the gearing will help. I just rode the quad around the yard and right now the power feels insane.

Thoughts ??????

I'd say your pretty much gearbound.

It shouldn't - a 12T on the front gears it almost identically as a YFZ from 1st to 5th.

My 450R is bone stock with the exception of the HRC kit and a set of Sand Skate II's - with a 13T on the front it would still bog coming out of the hole at Little Sahara.

I wouldn't recommend starting in 2nd for any reason unless 1st is too low - but if that were the case, you wouldn't be trying a 12T, would you....

I just want to be able to really tear up some sand. The starting in first/second thing is just that I am new to drag racing and trying to find the best way. :eek2:

I am running a 13th front with the HRC kit installed. This weekend down in Whinchester Bay, I raced a few times. I still bog a little in first but I think that is a jetting issue I need to fix.

But I raced a stock 450R with a 12th front and he was killing me off the launch. I would walk him down by the end but his holeshot off the line was pretty good. I am thinking about getting one to try it out next time I go. I am also running 9 paddle haulers. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the info, I'll let you know what my results were on Monday of next week. Wed-Sun will be playing in the sand. Gotta get that d@mn YFZ off the line though. More Practice I guess. :D
