ive been told that some company makes an aftermarket crank for the 400ex that turns it into a stroker motor (like a 383) and was wondering if anyone has heard the same or better yet you have it, love it, reccommend it to everyone because of the AWESOME horsepower and torque difference :D but you must sell it because you are too old :eek2: and it is in perfect condition.....ok so maybe i got a little excited about it:rolleyes: but if anyone knows anything about a stroker motor for a 400ex it would be great.

You can send in your stock crank to most of the bigger name shops and they will do the stroke work. If you send it to Powroll, they also have a special technique to shorten and strengthen the stock rod so that you don't have to use any kind of spacer plate on the bottom of the cylinder or use a custom piston. I didn't get any stroke work done but Powroll did install my Carrillo rod, and everything is smooth as silk; no vibration at all.

big stroker motors are for all out hp and torque. i have a 493cc ex(50hp+) that i drag race. reliability is a issue though, but there are differnt sizes 440,450,465,475 all the way up to a 505.i have run this motor for 2 years no problems .i' ve seen others that were nothing but problems. have a good one:D

Stage 1 cam and a 416 (87mm) piston. I really like the stage 1 cam. I was going to get a stage 2, but I was afraid I'd lose a bunch of bottom end. In retrospect, I probably should have gotten the stage 2; from what people say, there really isn't any noticeable loss in bottom end power. If I ever rebuild, I may give it a shot. The power is great. This motor is so torquey, I can't see why you'd want a stroker, besides just the sheer displacement.

well displacement but also i can get a 440 with an 87mm piston cuz of the combination of bore and stroke.

i look at it like this....how many people you know just bore their motors? most people do bore and stroke....ok yeah a 383 is just stroked. i also like the stroke better because it doesnt thin out my walls as much because it takes the 416 size piston and makes it 440 displacement.

isnt the stage 1 for like stock apps and stage 2 cam is for more racey type motors? what u suppose to do if you got an exhaust? hell if i get stroked and bored i might as well get the stage 2 just cuz its motor modded.

www.powroll.com has the kit. they got a couple things there but if you click on 400ex and scroll down youll find the stroker KIT after you find the 4.0 stroker crank....sumthin like that. i know its closer to the bottom.
