Who's using a longer swingarm, and why? What kinda stability does it add? I know what the "supposed" effects are, but I want to here from someone that actually uses one. Just wondering if it's something I should do. What about using one with +1 A-arms?

The +1.25 swingarm makes it more ballanced. It is pretty much going to be VERY close to the length of a 250R, that's why that made them I think. I don't think you can use the +1 foward a-arms with the swingarm and be race legal. Get some feedback from others though, This is info I have heard from.

I race desert with a 250R. The wife has a 400ex I'm fixin' up, and was wondering what effect the swingarm may have. I'm already going with +2 +1 arms. I could also use it for backup, just in case. Desert quads have no rules for length.

From what I hear on here, plus 1 inch foward isn't good for 400EX's, only certain year 250R's when the frame was an inch shorter. For desert, the swingarm would just be a waste of time, it helps mainly for MX.

Helps how? thats what I'm trying to find out. What makes you think it wouldn't work well in the desert?

It will work fine, but the main purpose for buying a +1.25 swingarm is for MX. I think with desert u might be better off with something longer maybe?

The plus 1.25 is very good for both MX and XC. If it works good for XC, I don't see why it would not work for dessert. I have one on my 400 and it helped out alot in the woops and also turning.
I have never heard of a rule about quad length, only about width being 50 in. The length must be something local or you got it confused with the width rule at MX and TT.
