I need help getting a carb for my 440, just installed a 440 11.0 to 1 kit, stage 2 cam, and supertrapp pipe. I've been told to run the fcr 39mm carb for the best performance.....these carbs are on indefinet backorder at all the places I have called, so I looked into the edelbrock 440 carb, sounds good, but alot of people say it is "junk".....what to do??

I have a edelbrock and have never had any problems with it. I dont know why people say its junk. Duncan has been using for years and they have been succesful with them. I dont think they would keep using them on most of their bikes if they werent any good. And I dont think they use them because they get them for free or get deals on them, Im sure they have enough $$$$ to use whatever they want.

people say its junk because they all run fcr's and have never had any experience with the edlebrock in most cases

The Edelbrock is an improved Lectron.

It will run fine if you get it tuned in & should help develop more power than the stock carb. One of the biggest problems is that the throttle throw is longer than stock and you will have to grind out your thumb throttle to reach full throttle.

While this may not sound like a big deal, it causes some big ergonomic problems which result in increased thumb fatigue.

Edelbrock vs FCR? Well, all you have to think about is which carb the OEMs use on their high performance 4 strokes - draw your own conclusions.

i sent you a pm.

i was told the lectrons flow the best out of any carb. however, they require frequent maintenance and cleaning so most don't recommend them.
